Hi, I have this problem of going on a diet and then ruining it by eating junk food. I have a bad sweet tooth. I usually diet for a few days then stop and say I’m starting tomorrow this usually repeats every week lol. I have lost 25 pounds in the past and I’m just stuck at this weight, I want to be on a good diet or a life style change that would work with me. I have a calorie counting app on my phone that I use to track to. I just have a problem with the yoyo affect. Tips. things you use or success stories that would help me thank you!

Dear Kellie,

Ugh, this is such a problem for some many people, even me. I actually fluctuate 15 pounds through out the year. I just dropped 5 of those rotten, nasty bags of bulge but it was a struggle, I still have 10 to go and we are going into the holidays, ahhh. Even though I have always had thyroid issues and it actually took years to get my medication under control, I still have to be very good in my eating.
Here is some interesting facts.
The difference in fat location comes from the sex hormones estrogen and testosterone. Fat cells are formed in the developing fetus during the third trimester of pregnancy, and later at the onset of puberty, when the sex hormones “kick in.” It is during puberty that the differences in fat distribution between men and women begin to take form. One amazing fact is that fat cells generally do not generate after puberty — as your body stores more fat, the number of fat cells remains the same. Each fat cell simply gets bigger!
Gross right, so the fat cells that form as children and teens are the ones we are stuck with forever unless of course you remove them with lipo.
With knowing what goes on with the fat cells has sort of helped me watch what I eat. I have to work out at least 5 days a week and snacks are raw fruits and veggies. One huge down fall for me is tortilla chips and bread, I love them both. The solution is easy, the action is hard. COUNT calories, plain and simple. What goes in you must burn or it turns to fat and fills up the cells. There was actually a study where a professor ate ice cream, candy and cake for a month but kept the calorie count low. He LOST weight. Because the magic is not what you eat but how much. I don’t mean that eating unhealthy doesn’t effect your health, sure it does but weight lose is about calories and burning them. That makes YOU are the only one who can help you, by being honest about how much you eat.
Read this great article about how many calories it takes in one week to make a pound of fat, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/05/3500-calories-one-pound-fat-calorie-burn_n_2806578.html it will help you guide yourself so you can build a plan. Also fill your house with only healthy choices, for every ones sake. Remember if you have children what they are eating now is making the difference in the fat cells they have later in life.
Weight loss is so tough because we lie and make excuses for ourselves. It is tough when you don’t have to answer to someone else to stay on the straight and narrow, that is why plans like weight watchers are so effective. Weight watchers counts the amount of calories you take in daily and you have to weigh in once a week.
So count calories and move, that is the best advice I can give. Believe me it is tough but you are the only one who can do it. You will look and feel better about yourself and become healthier.

Good Luck & Huge Muther Hugs,

One Tough Muther
