My daughter will be 10 years old in January and she is going through puberty extra fast. She has definite boobies and is growing hair on her privates and arm pits already. I’m afraid that next will be her period and I’m not ready for that at all. This seems wayyyyyy to early to me. What’s the normal age and should I be concerned she’s experiencing this at nine years old?

Dear Lynn,

Wow, it seems as though this is a growing trend. It blows my mind and I blame all the hormones in the food we eat. I was a bit unsure so I looked it up and both sites, www.pediatrics.about.com & www.healthychildren.org powered by pediatricians and the American Academy of Pediatrics state 9 years old to 10 years old was about the average age.

At first I was shocked but then remembered I git my monthly when I was 10 so I guess 9-10 is the norm and answer.

Lynn, ready or not here it comes so, GET READY.

Good Luck & Huge Muther Hugs,

One Tough Muther
