At my job I seem to be at a plateau. I’m not rising further in my career and not going down ward either. No one takes me seriously and I can not be stuck where I am in my career/ job any longer. Everyone else’s job at the company are rising, everyone else is surpassing me though I should have some seniority. Is it time to leave the company?

Dear Tina,

Here is the plain and simple truth. Nothing changes, unless you change it. If you are being passed over for promotion, speak up, address it and find out why. I am not trying to sound like a jerk here but the squeaky wheel usually does get the grease. Tina, all things being equal, why else could they be passing over you over? Are you visible and displaying motivation? Are you a team player and a leader who has displayed their ability handle additional responsibilities?
Tina, those are all some of the questions you have to sit yourself down and address. If you answer positively yes, you are ready to advance then it’s time to question management. So before you make any emotional, rash decisions, professionally address the issues to management and explain to that you are upset and serious. Once you hear what they say, you will know you’re serious.
Remember, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING changes in our lives unless we do something conscientiously to change it.
So change what you have been doing and the results should change.

Good Luck & Huge Muther Hugs,

One Tough Muther
