Dear OTM,

We are in the house buying process but I’m having a hard time connecting with any homes, none of these homes feel like home or comfortable. Will I ever find a home, am I being to picky.

Dear Megan,

You will definitely find a home, sometimes it just takes longer than you want. Buying a home is a very personal experience.
Everything has to feel right and the numbers have to work. Think about it, would you want to be stuck in a house that you settled on for the next 30 years? I hear a lot of young people say they could settle now and turn it later, but in my mind if you are buying a home for your family that is not the way to think, unless you have a big bank roll.
Megan, I have been in my home 24 years and I have rebuilt the entire house. If I were to sell now in this housing market, I would not make much more then I put into it. Selling my home would not give me enough money to live on for the rest of my life and I would be strapped.
So take your time, I know it is hard but once you own a house the commitment becomes very real. Your goal should be to live comfortable and own the home, not have the home own you. Something will open up and when it does all the pieces will fall into place, I promise. Until then save, save, save as much money as you can because unexpected expenses will come up I promise, so it is wise to be financially ready.

Good Luck & Huge Muther Hugs,

One Tough Muther
