Dear OTM,

Two months ago my cat passed away. He got out of the house and was hit by a car late at night. My boyfriend didn’t let me see my cat because he said that it was bad, all i saw was my cat laying in the road motionless. My boyfriend put him in a box so i couldn’t see. We buried him in our yard. Here is my question and it is a bit morbid.I can’t help but think that maybe my boyfriend was mistaken and maybe my cat didn’t die. I keep imagining him cold in the ground wanting to come out. Would it relax me to un bury him just to check?

Dear Cambell,

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet and loved member of he family is very difficult. I am sure you miss him greatly but dear he is gone.
If he has been buried in the ground for two months, Honey he is gone. I am sure that if there was any chance for his survival your boyfriend would have pursued it. I know how hard it is to lose something you dearly love and how consuming it is to try to understand or believe it but you have to try hard to come to terms with it.
Grief is different for everyone and it sometimes takes time to come to terms with loss so give yourself the time you need to get past this tragedy. However digging him up 2 months later, is a very bad idea as far as finality and piece of mind goes.

Remember him for how sweet he was and how muther you loved him and nothing else. Cambell, I hope you find piece soon.

Good Luck & Huge Muther Hugs,

OTN
