Dear OTM,

I have fallen, hard for a guy. We have been dating for a year and a half now and are now graduated from high school and heading off to the same college together. We are in love and it’s as simple and perfect as that. There is a slight worry though. My family are very dedicated Christians. My boyfriends family are Jehovah witnesses. Thats a big difference and Our parents like to remind us of this. What happens when we get married, what will we choose to believe? When we have children. Will the kids celebrate Jesus birth or follow Jehovah beliefs. My boyfriend and I don’t want to think about that. We know both our parents LOVE us together but we also know that they are not seeing how it will work-religion wise. My boyfriend and I would like to enjoy this journey of being in love and figure all that out later when it comes to that because I know we will work it out. Are the parents just over dramatizing, I mean can’t we enjoy the simplicity of love for now and worry about all that later or is that not realistic?

Dear Jess,

YES, enjoy each other, your love and this wonderful new chapter of your life. You sound like responsible, respectful and caring young adults with a wonderful future a head of you. Don’t let your parents or his parents comments put a damper on this magical time. There is plenty of time to “figure” things out and if you are truly in love it will work out.

Time and life experiences have a funny way of helping people find their way so don’t waste another second by worrying. I’m sure everything will work out in the futre.

Good Luck & Huge Muther Hugs,
